ZoneCasting Gains Momentum as Four More Radio Stations File FCC Applications for Geo-Targeted Broadcasting
GeoBroadcast Solutions (GBS) announced that four additional U.S. radio stations have applied to the FCC to implement ZoneCasting, a technology that enables geo-targeted programming and advertising within specific areas of a station’s coverage zone. This comes after the FCC’s new rules on FM broadcast booster station program origination took effect in May 2025, marking a significant shift in traditional radio broadcasting.
Each of the newly participating stations plans to use the technology to better serve local communities and advertisers with hyper-local content:
WKTT 97.5 (Salisbury/Ocean City, MD): Will target the Princess Anne community, focusing on customized ads for African American audiences and local Black-owned businesses.
KPKL 107.1 (Spokane, WA): Aims to boost coverage and ad targeting using a hybrid MaxxCasting and ZoneCasting system to compete with larger media groups.
WEIB 106.3 (Springfield, MA): Plans to deliver relevant content and affordable advertising to local small businesses, with a focus on the U.S. Black Chamber community.
KAFF (Flagstaff, AZ): Will provide targeted programming for Sedona, with an emphasis on serving Native American listeners.
With these applications, a total of 12 stations across 9 U.S. markets are now in the process of adopting ZoneCasting, reflecting growing interest in geo-targeted radio content and localized advertising opportunities.
