MaxxCasting™-Powered Stations Dominate San Francisco’s December Radio Ratings
Four of San Francisco’s top five FM stations (6+) license MaxxCasting for signal reach
SAN FRANCISCO – December 2025 Nielsen Audio ratings in San Francisco revealed a clear trend: FM stations leveraging MaxxCasting™ are capturing audience share and competitive advantage in one of the nation’s most competitive radio markets.
Public radio leader KQED-FM finished December as the #1 station overall in the market, a position it has held consistently since activating MaxxCasting. The month’s top-rated FM stations also included KOIT, KDFC, KMVQ and KLLC.
Of the top-performing FM stations, four of the top five are using MaxxCasting and benefit from licensing the technology in San Francisco. Combined, those four stations delivered approximately 23.8 percent of total 6+ AQH share in December, nearly one-quarter of all radio listening in the San Francisco metro.
“San Francisco is one of the most technically complex FM markets in the country,” said a GBS spokesperson. “These ratings demonstrate that when broadcasters invest in expanding usable coverage, the impact is measurable. Adding population and stabilizing signal where listeners actually live and commute creates real competitive and revenue advantages.”
As broadcasters look for proven, market-tested strategies to grow without changing format or content, December’s San Francisco ratings reinforce a clear takeaway for the industry that signal reach remains one of the most powerful levers for audience and revenue growth.
